Return to Bands/Modes I Work

PSK31

I’ve been curious about PSK31 for quite some time.  A couple of weeks ago, I ended up with a RigBlaster II Plus in a horse trade, so I decided to set out and see what I could discover.

After getting everything setup, and doing a little fine tuning, I was on the air.  I’m rather amazed at how well PSK31 functions.  I also think its rather slick that you can get so many QSOs in the same bandwidth as a normal SSB QSO.

My shack computer platform is an Apple Mac Mini.  I’m currently moving back and forth between two different terminal programs, CocoaModem and FLDigi.  Right now I’m tending to favor FLDigi.

I’ve recently traded out my RigBlaster II Plus for a SignaLink USB.  I believe the SignaLink is a much better device than the RigBlaster.  I also like the way it connects directly to the data port on my FT-950 vs. having to mess around with VOX.  Additionally it’s simplistic cable setup is much more desirable.

I should note that I was able to resolve the TX lockup problem with the RigBlaster by putting snap-on chokes at each end of the USB cable.  The RigBlaster is currently setup for my the IC-718 until I can purchase another SignaLink USB.

I look forward to catching you on the waterfall….
